The Tale of the Scorpio Moon Man Continues.. A Comparison Between Chaplin and Clapton

Eric Clapton Circa 1970
Charlie Chaplin

Before I explain some of the erie parallels between Eric Clapton and Charlie Chaplin, let me first explain some of the technical aspects of astrology that many people are not familiar with. Natal charts are constructed at birth and foretell the things that will come in a person’s lifetime. A person's chart is unique to them. You could refer to a natal chart as being a "life map." These two men’s charts have similar aspects (same sun- moon sign combo Aries Sun, Scorpio Moon) and  same house
placement for the sun/moon.

Both men have first house afflicted moons and were abandoned by their mother’s. Charlie as a 6 year old, (his mother was institutionalized. Clapton was abandoned at birth by his father and his mother and was raised by his grandmother.  NOTE Chaplin's natal Chiron is 6 degrees. Both men were never raised by their biological father’s and both fathers were musicians that died from alcoholism. Clapton's father was a soldier from Montreal, Quebec serving in England for the military, where he met Eric's mother.  Clapton thought his grandparents were his parents and his biological mother was his sister, until he was 16.  I had the great pleasure of reading Eric. Clapton’s Biography and Pattie Boyd’s biography. This gave me great insight into their lives and timelines. I also read Charlie Chaplin’s autobiography as well. The parallels between their natal charts and life stories are uncanny, and happened decades apart. Their lives had eerie parallels,  correlating with their charts. See for yourself, keep reading

Like Chaplin, Clapton’s natal moon is also in Scorpio and in the first house. Both Chaplin and Clapton’s suns are in Aries, located in the 6th house.  Eric’s moon is opposing venus in the 7th house. Like Chaplin he has a moon (mother) and venus opposition between the 1st house (of self) and 7th house of (partnerships/marriage.  Both have natal venus RX. Both Chaplin and Clapton have T-Squares involving the 1st, 9th and 7 house involving the Moon and Venus. Charlie's T-square Involved Saturn in the 9th, whereas Clapton's 1-9-7 T -Square involved Pluto instead.

  • Eric has natal Venus retrograde in Taurus, the day that he lost Connor, he was experiencing a Venus return. Eric Clapton has an afflicted Venus, opposing the moon, and engaging in multiple squares and a T-Square.
  • Transiting Uranus and Neptune conjoined with Eric's natal 3rd house South node with a 1 degree orb between Uranus (the planet of surprise) . and the south node ( karma). The third house governs, early childhood, communication, siblings etc.
  • The transiting Gemini moon, was conjunct with Uranus in the 8th house of death. Connor's Natal Mars hit's Erics 3rd house South Node. Connor's Pisces moon and RX Jupiter, fell in Eric's (5th house children) Eric and Connor's composite charts were interesting to study. Connor's Pluto hits Eric Claptons 1st house moon in a tight orb. As we know Eric's natal moon, has heavy transit action with Pluto in a fixed T-Square involving Venus, Moon and Pluto. The Moon is a very important planet for Eric Clapton in particular as it is in his first house. The moon also symbolizes important areas of his life he has struggled with: His mother, women, and emotional issues with self.

Laury Del Santo (Clapton's mistress and baby mama) and his son Conner.
Laury and Eric's Composite.

  •   Laury has a Jupiter-Neptune Conjunction in her Natal chart, and it falls into Eric's 1st house, conjoining with his moon. The moon has to do with motherhood and karma, once again Neptune (deception) is involved with moon Karma (Affair/ having a child with another woman who is not you're wife).
  • Connor and Laury both had planets conjunct with Eric's Scorpio moon. Laury's north node, sits in Eric's 12th house close to his Libra Ascendant in the 12th house veil. (12th house secrets, karma).  Laury's Aries moon, is a couple degrees away from Eric's Sun. 5-9

Both men had serious issues with infidelity, and “mother issues.” In the end they both married women 30 years their junior while they were in their fifties. Both men had very publicized and unusual love affairs.  Their affairs inspired some of the greatest books and love songs  created in history : the novel “ Lolita” and the song “Layla.” The nature of Clapton's and  Chaplin's relationships, correspond with their retrograde Venus' and afflicted first house moons.

Heidi Fleiss: Part II Transits and Planet Cycles from Bankruptcy, Hospitalization, Halfway Houses and Prison.

Because Heidi's intriguing natal chart is so well reflected in the timeline of her life, exploring her timeline and comparing it to her chart is extremely fascinating. For example, Saturn retrograde cycles happen to be particularly influential in her life and tend to come at the peaks of the most challenging and destructive times in her life. Similarly, Mars transits have been important in triggering the many catastrophic events that happened in her life. One example of her transits accurately reflecting her timeline was when Heidi was in prison and hospitalized three times for mental breakdowns. On these occasions Heidi's retrograde Uranus hit her natal Mars in a conjunction. Uranus retrograde cycles are also important triggers in Heidi’s timeline.
When Heidi’s home in Nevada burnt down, Uranus was retrograde again. Rx Jupiter was also separating from Heidi’s Chiron during that time.

On one of the occasions that she was hospitalized, the south node was conjunct to Chiron in Pisces. The transiting north node was conjunct to natal Uranus and Pluto, an important trigger for Heidi. Nodes amplify the planets they are conjoining with and their influences. In Heidi’s case the node amplified Chiron and Uranus. Chiron and Uranus are both in a T-Square. Heidi’s first house Chiron and Saturn are in opposition with Pluto and Uranus in the 7th (relationships.)

Another time Heidi was hospitalized while incarcerated was in February of 1997. A Large stellium in Aquarius was occurring and transiting through her 12 and 1st house, hitting natal mars, the ascendant, Lilith and Venus. Uranus had an exact conjunction to mars, on the day she was hospitalized again. Mercury, Jupiter and  Venus were conjoining to the mars in a couple degree proximity.  Transiting mars at this time was retrograde and in Libra and opposing the natal, and transiting moon and transiting Saturn.
Saturn also had an exact conjunction with natal  2nd house Aries moon at 4-4 degrees; the moon that day happened to be in Aries as well passing over her natal moon in conjunction. Pluto was also conjunct with Heidi’s 10th house south node with a 1 degree orb in between. Transiting north node in Virgo in the 8th house was not far from Mars at this time either, amplifying Mars and its aspects. (She was taken to the hospital between 12 -1 pm according to a source.)
The third time Heidi was hospitalized  in prison was in 2001. Neptune was transiting through her natal 12th house (institutions, prisons, asylums, mental dysfunction etc) and was in an applying conjunction to 12th house Mars.

In 2001 Heidi spent a weekend in Jail for a DUI. Transiting Neptune conjoined with natal mars that day and Mercury was conjunction with 1st house Chiron. Saturn was also 2 degrees from her IO. Transiting Mars and Pluto were relatively close together at a five degree orb conjoining with her natal mercury (3 and 2 degree orb).

Heidi’s natal Mars was activitated by the transiting south node in Aquarius back in October of 1999; when the millionaires lost everything and filed for bankruptcy. Nodes are Karmic points, and nodal transits, sometimes are like finales or “the big bang events in people’s life. For Heidi her karma revolved around money, how interesting the south node hit her mars when she filed bankruptcy as the 12 house is a karma house. It is the house of endings, and its natural ruler is Neptune, a planet associated with deceit, illusion, addiction, drugs, prositution, and the laundering. The 12th house is the inner darker, realm of a persons’s mind and their being, it is also representation of a persons karma or secrets. Some astrologers, believe it is representational of a person's past life karma, and the transitional period between their death and the beginning of their life (birth=ascendant).  In Heidi’s lifetime money was her big motivation, filing for bankruptcy was the consequence of her karma (node hitting mars). Mars is a masculine planet and the natural ruler of Aries it is associated with lust and sex. Lust and sex is what Heidi profited off, something many are financially enslaved to as result of weaknesses and vices ( idealization, addiction and illusion and sexual fantasy)  (Mars meets the 12 house in this dynamic). On that very day the moon was in Pisces (Neptune’s natural ruler) and it conjoined with Saturn and Chiron opposing  7th ( Natal Uranus and Pluto) and transiting Venus.

When Heidi was released from prison and placed in a halfway house transiting Uranus conjoined with her asendant in the 12 th house veil and conjoined with her natal 12th house mars. Jupiter was in an exact conjunction with Chiron and transiting Mars in the 7th conjoined with Pluto and Uranus. Transiting Chiron and Sun were near Heidi’s midheaven and conjoined with Neptune. Venus also was conjunct with the south node.
Another transit and date to note was the day Heidi was convicted to go to prison. On that day Saturn was 12 degrees Aquarius and 1 degree away from her ascendant.
Heidi also escaped laundering charges in 1996. Interestingly enough retrgrade Venus worked in her favor that day. RX Venus was cojunct with Heidi’s natal RX Jupiter in the 5th house.

Heidi Fleiss: The Natal Chart Part 1

Heidi Fleiss became well known back in 1993 when her Prostitution ring was busted in California. Heidi made her first 2 million within her first two months working as a Madame. She officially became a Madame in her early twenties, and worked for Madame Alex for a short time, deciding she preferred to work for herself. Heidi herself was a prostitute for a short period of time, but preferred the role of Madame (her life long career). Fleiss is an authorative Cardinal Capricorn female with a cardinal Aries moon, and a fixed ascendant in (Aquarius). She likes being in charge and craves power and leadership. She get’s off on $$$$, this is reflected in her life choices and natal chart.  Heidi is also known as one of the patients featured on Celebrity Rehab, run by Dr. Drew.

Heidi’s Sun is in Capricorn, Moon in Aries and Aquarius Ascendant.  Her natal moon is in the second house of “the material” money, goods, possessions, values (money and personal). The sun squares the moon, (11-2nd house)  She is a product of divorced parents. Chiron is 18 degrees and Saturn  at 12 degrees in Pisces.  Saturn and Chiron are conjoined with a 5 degree orb in her 1st house. Her father, a pediatrician was very supportive of Heidi’s career and even helped her establish a cover business. Heidi had a stable of over a hundred  girls; the starting rate was 1,500 per night. Heidi would take 40 percent of each girl’s earnings. The first house is a difficult place   for Saturn and Chiron emotionally. Saturn in the first, can give a person a serious, mature side.  People with Saturn in the first typically are very hard on themselves and have self esteem and trust issues.  If one were to observe someone with Saturn in their 1st;  they may not see this side displayed in them at first glance.
People with natal 1st house Saturn are very good at hiding their insecurity with their armor of a private, distrusting front. In reality this “can” make them intimidating to other people because of the intentional/unintentional standoffish vibe they “can” put out to others.  ”Usually” with Saturn in the first one does   not have an easy childhood, and is burdened with adult responsibilities as a child, having to grow up fast.  I am not implying that everyone that has natal Saturn in the 1st fits this description, but I have found it to be pretty true.  Some other famous women with Saturn in the first house are Cher and Jackie O. The positive side of Saturn in the 1st is that, it gives a person a lot of strength and “can” create a lot of motivation and drive as well. (After all Heidi Fleiss was a millionaire by 22.) She clearly utilized the positive aspects of that Saturn placement, even if it was through a means that some would consider negative.
Heidi also has a T-square in her chart. A T-square is like a car with three wheels, or a chair with three legs, there is a missing leg and imbalance of energy. In the case of a T-Square it involves three planets instead of four. Heidi’s T-squares involve Uranus in the (7th house marriage/relationships with the other) Mercury (10th house Public scene/career)  and Jupiter in the (5th house of romance) Heidi also has an opposition between Pluto and Chiron an aspect that Anna Nicole Smith also shares as well. To note: Anna also had Venus in the first house too. Saturn in the first house is a common placement for sex workers. Xaviera Hollander (adult film actress) also has Saturn in the first and is one of many in the sex industry with this placement.

People with natal Chiron in the first house many times can have a “cat with a nine lives complex”. Heidi has a history of  flipping cars over, this happened to her three times. The most recent accident occurred after she took off and left rehab in California. This year on Thanksgiving day her home in Nevada burnt to the ground, her beloved parrots were all rescued and safe. Another trend  I have noticed with Chiron in the first apart from the cat with nine lives complex are identity issues.
I recently researched into the natal charts, of  over 50 prostitutes, transvestites, pimps and madames.  Out of the 50-60 charts I studied, a large portion of the subjects had Chiron in the 1st house. In particular the tran-sexuals and transvestite sex workers)  Heidi very likely had some internal identity issues and struggles.  Becoming a Madame is a hardcore thing to do; many people are not able to go through the recruitment process. In order to become a Madame, a person is emotionally desensitized, and is trained to lose their empathy towards humans. This is achieved through a number of brutalistic and disturbing tasks to other human beings as a sort of rite of passage into the sex industry. The “tasks” they have to do to other people and themselves are things most people would never be able to do or would consider. Heidi passed with flying colors by age 20. By the time she was 22 she had millions.
As a young teenager and child she was a lost kid, dropping out of school, and barely passing her classes. She had little authority in her home growing up and ran wild.  Heidi also had a fetish for older men through out her teens and through her thirties. It was common for her to date men thirty years her senior. It was through her waitressing job that she met an older playboy that gave her the connection to get into the industry. They had a four-year affair. Observing Chiron and Saturn conjoined in the first house, makes me think that deep down on the inside she is not so cocky and self assured as she presents out towards the world. Internally there is a fragile, insecure side to this person beneath the surface (The side) that empathsizes with abused parrots, that created a bird rescue in her home.
Externally she portrays herself as a cold, calculating, shrewd, business woman. (Ascendant)   Venus and dark moon Lilith are conjunct in Aquarius in the first house (of Self and identity) seeing this in her chart did not surprise me at all as it coincides with my impressions of her as being shrewd and calculating. Heidi opted to stay in prison longer than she was required. This aspect probably helped her remain  objective in regards to business matters, perhaps it plays another part in her lack of empathy.

    Charlie Chaplin

I have been wanting to look at Charlie Chaplin’s natal chart for years, ever since studying his work in college, and have been curious  ever since.  Charlie is an intriguing character with a feminine, magnetic sort of essence about him. Apart from being known for his work he is also famous for his unconventional life, filled with taboo affairs and four controversial  marriages.  One of his relationships inspired the infamous book Lolita. (When Charlie was in his fifties he married a teenage girl of the name “Lita Grey”. )

However what interests me the most about Charlie is his natal chart pictured below:
His Moon is tightly conjoined to his ascendant (in Scorpio). (8-9 degrees) with a 1 degree orb. My initial impression: (Ouch) “I wonder what the story was with him and his mother?” The Moon-ascendant conjunction helped him as an actor morph into all of the roles he played. One thing the ascendant represents is the mask projected to others and our initial essence . The moon is also representational of our physical appearance and energetic essence. In Chaplin’s case the moon and ascendant are conjoined, hence his unusual energy and ability to morph in film visually and characastically. This was a skill that was probably very natural for him. If you look at his photos he is a film chameleon. The natal Moon on the ascendant probably contributed to this, being that moon is a feminine, planet of constant, flux, change, through each astrological sign roughly every 2.5 days.

Apart from appearance, the Natal Moon covers many areas of a person and their life. It “can” be a big clue, about their relationship with their mother and how they relate to women and their emotional nature. If one digs deeper and looks at how the moon is interacting with other planets; (the aspects between them) you can see further and figure out what areas of their life this influence manifested upon. The moon shows us how one relates to women or their female partners. A person’s first female relationship in life is with his mother. Depending on the dynamics of what occurred, this can heavily influence the outcome of their adult life relationships. Many of these circumstances and life history carry through people’s adult lives, manifesting into patterns, choices and repeated outcomes. Many are never able to undo their conditioning. After researching into Chaplin’s earlier life history and reading his chart, I found his transits to the moon and Venus truly reflected his life circumstances regarding his mother and relationships to women.
I think this image is a good metaphor for Chaplin's  afflicted RX Venus and Moon.
Chaplin’s Natal moon is afflicted with challenging aspects. The moon is opposing Venus and Mars. The natal moon is located in the 1st house of self; Venus and Mars are conjunct in the 7th house of partnerships/marriages relationships with others. There is quite an energy pattern here between 1-7 (oppositions.) ( self versus the other). Chaplin was married four times, and struggled  in his relationships with women.  His last marriage was to a woman thirty years younger than him (Oona O’Neil) whose father disowned and disinherited her after she and Charlie secretly eloped. Charlie was 53 and Oona was 17 when she met him. Charlie's son Charlie Junior II stated the following about his father's infamous interest in young girls:
    Add caption
“[my father’s] troubles sprang from incurable romanticism…[he was] utterly blind to the fact that he was dealing with flesh and blood…[and] would form a deep attachment for his created image much as Pygmalion fell in love with his statue. When the idyll he had created for himself would explode into stark reality he would be shocked, angry and hurt as at some betrayal.”- Charles Chaplin Junior.
To get an idea of Chaplin’s childhood and background read the following passage from Wikipedia below:
“Charles Spencer Chaplin was born on 16 April 1889, His parents were both entertainers in the music hall tradition; his father, Charles Spencer Chaplin Sr, was a vocalist and an actor and his mother, Hannah Chaplin, a singer and an actress who went by the stage name Lilly Harley. They separated before Charlie was three. He learned singing from his parents.  As a small child, Chaplin also lived with his mother in various addresses moving around very frequently. Chaplin’s father, Charles Chaplin Sr., was an alcoholic and had little contact with his son, though Chaplin and his half-brother briefly lived with their father and his mistress, Louise. The half-brothers lived there while their mentally ill mother lived at Cane Hill Asylum at Coulsdon. Chaplin’s father’s mistress wiped her hands clean of the two boys and sent them to Archbishop Temples Boys School. His father died of cirrhosis of the liver when Charlie was 12-13 in 1901. When Chaplin reached adolescence he joined a troupe of young male dancers, The Eight Lancashire Lads, managed by a William Jackson. A Larynx condition ended Hannah’s singing career. Chaplin’s mother was again admitted to the Cane Hill Asylum, her son was left to fend for himself in a workhouse in south London, moving again to the Central London District School for Paupers.”
Charlie and Sydney who remained close for the rest of their lives.
Chaplin and his brother Sydney supported themselves financially through performing as Vaudeville Dancers. They received little academic schooling, their primary focus was survival; it is the classic story of “rags to riches.” (Jupiter is in Chaplin’s second house of material possessions/money/values) Chaplin carried on to become a very wealthy man. Some of the things Jupiter represent are, expansion, optimism, luck and fortune).  Natal Jupiter opposes Chiron the Asteroid located in a 2-8 house opposition i.e.: Money and personal values, versus, rebirth, change, transformation, inheritance, “other people’s money” etc.) The misfortunes he experienced very likely contributed to his grit and street smarts to succeed in the film industry and provide the inspiration to create the films he made. Having Saturn resting near his Midheaven is quite fitting.
This opposition between Chiron (wounds) and Jupiter (luck and fortune) is a metaphor for the dichotomy between Chaplin’s early life as a struggling orphan and successful adult life. The dichotomy  lies between this man’s fortune and his circumstances that brought him there. On one hand he was blessed with immense talent for producing, acting, dancing, painting and acting, and on the other he had a tragic life, suffering the loss of his biological father, enduring an abusive alcoholic stepfather and a mentally ill, mother etc. These experiences probably gave him the edge to succeed in the competitive, cutthroat film industry. In some of his roles it is clear he draws much of his motivation from his life experiences i.e.: “the tramp”. Elements of the tramp’s character and the film’s plot mirror the circumstances experienced in Charlie’s early life: poverty, loneliness, alienation and being an orphan.  Many argue this was his best performance as an actor and the role he personally related to the most in his career. It was a movie he created after suffering one of the worst tragedies of his life, the loss of a child.
Paulette Goddard and Charlie Chaplin walking into the sunset.
What did he have to endure and at what price?  The Moon also relates to the public, and along the way most of the bad publicity Chaplin endured was in relation to scandalous relationships  he had with women.  Chaplin  has a natal RX Venus in Taurus.  Saturn rests near the midheaven in a fixed T-square with retrograde Venus in Taurus, Mars (Leo) and the Moon (Scorpio). A T-square is like a three legged chair, that is missing a leg, it is a very powerful transit. The T-square is correlating between the 1st, 7th, and 9th houses, of Self, Relationships/ the other,  higher education, spirituality, vision and travel.  (Fact: Charlie was banned from entering the United States, and settled in Switzerland for the rest of his life, he did not return to the U.S for many years.)

Let us also take a look at Natal Saturn. Saturn is resting near the Midheaven and this is quite fitting for him, as nothing was handed to him but only accomplished through very hard work.  Saturn is all about learning lessons through hard work, and some of those lessons can be brutal, cold and severe in nature, as Charlie’s early life was. Saturn can also be looked at as a father figure in the chart. Chaplin’s natal Saturn is squaring the moon (located in first house of self)  (his parents did not stay together) and  (mars and Venus) located in the 7th house of relationships and marriages.  Chaplin’s Saturn is in Leo at 13 degrees. 13 was the age Chaplin’s father died from liver failure, Mars is also at 13 degrees as well. I take note of 13 being a repeated number in this chart. Chiron is also at 5 degrees, at age five Charlie's mother was put in a mental institution for a while, and would continue to to go in and out of institutions for the remainder of her life.
    The Tramp and the Kid.
Chaplin’s 5th house cusp is in Pisces. The fifth house represents children, but can also represent the first child. Chaplin had many children with Oona O’neil, however he did have an illegitimate child with an underage girl, he hastily married  (Deceptive conception/Neptune on 5th house cusp) There were different angles in the story involving Chaplin, 16 year old Lita and her closely involved stage mother. The death of his first biological child inspired him to produce and write the script for “The Kid”. (It is not a coincidence the film is called “The Kid” and about a kid. His Neptunian 5th house cusp, serves as an imprint of the legacy of his first childs mysterious circumstances, and odd death.
Lita Grey cast as "the angel." The facial expression is priceless considering the circumstances.
